Where Does Your Drive Come From?
Networking will have a huge impact on your business – when done correctly. And making the right connections at the right time can vastly widen your resources and your ability to help others.
But networking alone isn’t likely to help you improve your own business acumen or gain your new insight into best business practices as a whole. That’s why once a month during a meeting we spotlight one of our embers. This is an opportunity that person to come to the group and ask about anything they need a little direction on.
- Product Development
- Social Media
- HR and Compliance
The list is endless. With various levels of expertise and industries in the room, the discussion helps all those present to apply new strategies to their own businesses – and the member in the spotlight gains a group of mentors and focused referrals over the next month.
Full of excitement and passion for their product or service, most entrepreneurs launch a business to offer something they’re good at, without always having the business training to back it up.
That was true for Pamela Terhune Zimmerman when she opened her copywriting business in 2010. She knew her craft, but she was winging it when it came to running a business. As she networked in several organizations, she discovered she wasn’t alone in the struggle. With so many professionals in her networks, it seemed that tapping into their knowledge and experience would do wonders for her and small business owners in her community.
So in 2012, Pamela founded The DRIVE Group. A place to not only network, but to gain valuable insight and guidance from area professionals in running a business. From accounting, to marketing and everything in between, members of The DRIVE Group mentor each other and hold each other accountable for taking action to improve themselves and their business each week.
Recognizing the importance of professional development and education in helping a business succeed, the group also brings in speakers monthly to teach and discuss relevant business topics. Our members dictate these topics, so we can be sure we’re not wasting anyone’s time.
Today,The DRIVE Group offers members 3 evening Mixers each year, community charitable giving and involvement, and a growing network of resources to help members in whatever way they need. Our bi-monthly newsletter keeps everyone in the loop and if you follow us on Facebook, you’ll be part of the ongoing conversation that’s changing the way people network!
